Together in Christ, Together with you

Asking for God’s help

Jesus says Do all the good you can

[14] “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. [15] Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. [16] In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16 NIV

God gives us the Holy Spirit - who Jesus calls ‘The Helper’ to help us.

So why not take some time to stop and reflect on your life with God. Thank God for the good things, say sorry for the wrong things and ask his help where you need it for the future.

Here’s one way you could do that.

Find a quiet spot to reflect on the week. You might want to put some quiet music on in the background. You might find a pen and paper / journal helpful.

What was the best thing that has happened today / last week? Remember that moment. Thank God.

Cast a gentle light over the last day / week. Replay the key things that happened in your mind just as though you’re watching a movie. What are your thankful for? What are your sorry for?

Now you have replayed the day / week in your mind, let these feelings of gratitude and sorrow sink deeper. Speak to God about your day / week in the same way that you speak to one of your friends.

How have you done with the area you asked God for help in last time?

And finally what is one thing you need to ask from God to strengthen you  in the coming day / week?

Ask God for it.

Luke 11:13 TNIV

[13] If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

Galatians 5:22-23 TNIV

[22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, [23] gentleness and self- control.
